  1. I’ve been trying to make handmade platters using coils and rolling out sections and I can’t seem to make them as magical as yours!! they keep cracking! I must be doing something wrong.

    • Oh dear. Yes I have my share of cracked coil pots to. I found it helps to use a bisque pot which i turn upside down and place the coils on. My coils are fairly big to help avoid the cracking. I smooth the clay to join the coils. Then let it firm for a few hours. Then I turn the whole piece on the pits around the right way. The a place the pot inside the bisque pot. This helps to support while drying out. If its a hot day i put some plastic on the edges as the edges dry more quickly for a few hours as well. Not sure if this helps.
