Here is another way to make a pot.
Step 1 – Pick up an interesting cake tin from your local Op shop.
Step 2 – Place plastic on the inside of the cake tin. This will prevent the clay sticking to the tin and allows you to easily pull out the pot from the tin.
Step 3 – Roll out a slab of clay and place on the inside. Press the clay into the shape of the tin. Add extra pieces of clay if required and press in and smooth over.
Step 3 – Turn upside down and take off tin.
Step 5 – You might need to smooth the clay over.
Step 6 – Add a base
Step 7 – Smooth the base on the inside. Pot now drying out.
Great idea! I like that. Make sure and post pics of it after it is glazed.

Pretty clever!
Thanks. These old cake tins are so lovely it’s good to get multiple uses from them. Actually I am terrible at baking so I think this cake tin will only touch clay!

Simple and clever, i can’t wait to try, thanks!
Great idea! Got to try this, thanks!
Hi
Fantastic. Please show it if you do on your wonderful blog. The colours and vibrancy in your work is beautiful!

Great idea!~cant wait to see the final result!
I’ve tried numerous things to shape a form with. This one is awesome Row! I’m into smaller vessels so I’ve tried shot glasses and the sort. The most successful one is a stress ball. I wrap a washcloth around a ball of clay and flatten it out then form everything around the ball to create a shallow bowl. Remove the cloth and tweak as necessary. https://dreamsofearth.wordpress.com/portfolio/bonsai-pots/
Hi
Oh thank you. Lovely to hear from you! You have made my day seeing your comment.
Your bonsai pots and matching trays are really special. Wonderful colours and textures.
See you around.

Hello, fellow potter. Isn’t it wonderful to have a passion for mud. Well, what I really wanted to say was “thank you” for letting me know you liked the post from my novel, “Desperate Voyage.”
Thanks again and Aloha – pjs/
