Hello world!

Well, here goes…my first blog! I want to use this blog as a place to record my adventures in playing with mud (and any other creative stuff I like).

One of my earliest memories was playing with mud when I was 4 yrs old, making mud pies and eating them!  The fascination with all things clay related has always been there, although I have had a number of distractions along the way.

Here is my latest pot.  My inspiration for this pot came from the book – The Traditional Ceramics of South East Asia by Mick Shippen – where it looks at the traditional labu in Malaysia, i.e. earthenware water bottles.  Their pots were smaller and much more graceful then mine, but that’s ok, I just loved the shape. Its made by coils and joining to a cylinder, then shaping from inside and outside etc
